Without seeing one in person I can't tell you if it's actually the correct one but judging from the picture it looks correct.

UMM! I know mine was made in The U.S.A here's some photos of the one I have.
It is about 37 1/4"
This will give you an idea of the neck arch.

Re: where to find correct Army shovels for the 151?
I have a friend near here who was a motor pool mechanic in the early to late 1970's. He said that while axes and shovels were standard equipment for the M151, they were seldom on the vehicles. He said they were usually only fitted for inspection or parade. He said they bought most of them locally from hardware stores. If they ordered them through official channels, they would not arrive in time for the inspection.

I have one. If you need one I'll let it go 10 bucks + shipping. The wood is like the previous pics, but it's all intact. I just got an Ames from Home-Depot

Local hardware store. Just make sure it all metal and wood. My Lt didn't care as long as there was one for the inventory.

There was an image posted over on the other gee quite some time ago of an A1 (over in RVN?) parked outside of a building. It's ax had a natural wood (not painted OD) handle and the ax head, was blue! It was obviously a store brought tool purchased to substitute one that was GI issue. They probably didn't bother to paint the ax because it would have been stolen off the vehicle in short order by someone.

There were no thieves in the military, There were "acquisition specialists".

My dad was a tanker in WW2. He said the military had everything needed to win a war. They just didn't have good distribution. He said they relied on trading, subterfuge, scrounging, dishonesty, and outright theft to get stuff to where it was needed during hostilities. He once told me that if they had waited for proper paperwork, the allied expeditionary force would still be waiting in southern England.

The official amount of ammo carried as opposed to the realistic amount needed was substantially different. In other words, you could never have too much ammo.
