Rainman, I'm a New Holland combine man myself and I keep a shotgun loaded with buckshot for those critters when cutting soybeans. Yup, have hit a few holes myself........

Just had a groundhog walk across my back patio. He was across the yard and down in the gully next to my house before I could fetch my varmint rifle. It is now stationed next to the door. And here I thought it was rabbits that had been eating my flowers. The hunt begins anew :!: :x

So it took you a year and a half to get the groundhog. If he passed those survival skills on to his protege you will be overrun in two years!

This was the first one I had seen since May 2011. I had long since put my rifle away. I came home from the boat club around 4 this afternoon and saw him while pulling up the drive. I went inside, got the rifle out of the safe, and sat down on the porch. I hadn't waited even a minute and a half and up out of the gulley he came. Chest shot at 150 yards with a .222

This reminds me of a MP post at a base in Afghanistan where they were told to eliminate the stray dogs. It said MPs 19, Stray dogs 3.

They admitted that a couple dogs ran between the shooters resulting is some fratricide.
