Jerry can mount

Unread post by ldj1002 » April 17th, 2011, 2:04 pm

I just mounted the straps for jerry can and they are too small for the can to go in them. What goes on here? were cans smaller for M151?. I don't think I am putting them on wrong. I just took loop off the jeep put through loop in strap and put back on, same in all 3 places. I have 3 straps 1 NOS and 2 used ones. They are all the same size. One has a little larger ring and the strap loops are riveted instead sowed.

Could you post a picture? A picture with the can and strap would be nice.

Are you using a standard US metal fuel can?

You can see where I cut the strap and riveted it back into a much smaller loop which made it longer by 2". All three straps were the same size.
