Re: CMD Body Panels - Looking Awsome!!!
Looking good. Please keep me posted on what parts are going to available and how much. If it's the tool box cover and the rear fenders, I'll take one of everything you got!!!
I'm cool with them being shot with WD-40 for the ride to my house !!!
Let us know your prices and the details.
(I'll wipe the slobber from my mouth after I enjoy it for a little while.....)
Have a nice day!!!!

Re: CMD Body Panels
Tool box lids are now on e-bay. We marked the price up to cover e-bay fees but did not go crazy. If you want parts, contact me through this site. I've seen some of the discussion in a couple of other threads about dealers, etc. We will not be using a middle man for parts made at CMD so people will deal with us. Also, we will hold the prices for the next production run of parts that we had at the show. We ran the numbers and feel that with the lot sizes used we will make our required mark up and be fair to people purchasing parts.

Eddie Holland wrote:Ok . I am going to double check the dimensions and get you a 3d model along with 2d drawings of each side with dimensions. Send me an email address to send the files to. I have Autocad 2013. Do you need it saved as a different version? I did a search on how to measure small radius. There are tools for this called radius gauge but they are very expensive.
I printed out your drawing this morning and will take it home and verify the dimensions as best as I can from what is left of mine. I'll keep you posted.

Re: CMD Body Panels
I got my tool box cover today. It looks just a little better than what was already on mine.
Question for all you guys with more welding experience than me. (That's probably all of you.) Will I need to remove the primer from both sides of the flange before welding it on?

Re: CMD Body Panels
Yes but only around the area you will be welding. The hinge is stainless steel so you can lightly sand it all off and there will be no rust there so no worries on that. As far as other body parts, you have to have bare metal to weld UNLESS you use a weld-thru primer. That is what I use. It serves two purposes, it prevents rust at the weld site and also promotes a better weld on thin metal. It is not real cheap but worth it in the long run as far as I am concerned. The weld through primer also protects the area between the sheetys of metal where you cannot get paint after welding.

Re: CMD Body Panels
sam, the pic above has prompted a question. is there any chance that you could remove the hinge pin from the the old tool box door, and the new one, and mesh the two hinges together, then reinstall the pin? i don't have a new one to measure, which is the only way to answer that. are the hinges spaced the same? i know the overall width is different, but i'm referring to the individual hinge loop width.

Re: CMD Body Panels
You will not be able to do the above because I could not find a hinge that had the same pin diameter and knuckle width as the original. It was one or the other so I went with the correct pin diameter. The original knuckel width is .625". The width on the CMD hinge knuckle is .5". The overall hinge width is the same. By the way, nice looking lid!199th mp wrote:sam, the pic above has prompted a question. is there any chance that you could remove the hinge pin from the the old tool box door, and the new one, and mesh the two hinges together, then reinstall the pin? i don't have a new one to measure, which is the only way to answer that. are the hinges spaced the same? i know the overall width is different, but i'm referring to the individual hinge loop width.

Re: CMD Body Panels
that is a very nice looking lid indeed. before i can install one on my jeep, i have to figure out a way to reattach the seat belt mount, so the lid will close. that's why mine has the notch, just like the one in sam's pic. i'm very open to suggestions, if some one elsa has already come up with a solution.

I know someone that could make you a custom lid!

i like the stock lid you made a lot. i already got a custom lid---it's got a big chunk taken out of the corner.lpcoating wrote:199th mp wrote:that is a very nice looking lid indeed. before i can install one on my jeep, i have to figure out a way to reattach the seat belt mount, so the lid will close. that's why mine has the notch, just like the one in sam's pic. i'm very open to suggestions, if some one elsa has already come up with a solution.

Re: CMD Body Panels
When I mounted my belts I put the retractors on brackets that held them far enough up to clear the lid. I will get pictures this weekend.
