I have dual degrees in biology and chemistry. I also have a lot of credit hours in physics, ecology, anthropology, and microbiology. I especially enjoy when some of the guys at G503 try to support political arguments using scientific methodology and statistics that they do not understand, and that do no support their argument, or merely show a correlation. An anology would be that most wrecks occur within 15 miles of the home and occur at speeds under 40 miles per hour. One cannot extrapolate this data to say that if you drive fast and never go home you are statistically less likely to be in a wreck. That is the difference between causation and correlation.

I can live with both sites, but the one I like best is this one. No politics, no real insulting comments, just fun and informative. I guess you have to have a MUTT brain like ours to feel ownership on the G838 site is where we belong. If we need or want us to kick in some funding, just let me know. Thank you, Seabee

I'm a little late in the game here but I can comment on a similar situation with another board that I am a mod on. Basically it started on AR15.com, on ARF.com there is a section for AK's, the vast majority of that board is strictly AR fans with a small minority who are interested in the AK47 platform. The site staff and the mod's would overlook and would over moderate the AK side of the board, a few of us asked to have AK mod's to run the AK side of things and was turned down. It was mainly an elitest attitude that drove us away, them saying the AR platform is far superior to the AK and that us AK loving community had no say. Another reason was that AR15.com is a money hungry site and requires you to pay a fee to use basic controls such as the search engine amongst others, vendors on that site have to pay a premium as well.

In turn we started our own forum on the AK, TheAkfourm.net.

In the three years that we have been around we have over 15,000 members and an ever growing community, Volumes have been written with the superb information thats on the site. We have simple rules and enforce them with a heavy hand but the site runs smoothly, our number one rule is that NO politics are allowed, politics always lead to bad tastes in peoples mouths, No racism is allowed either as with over 15K in membership not all of us are of the same ethnic background. On top of everything, it's FREE, no one pays anything except the site staff, it all comes out of their pockets. Our vendors do not pay anything as well.

We went out on our own and became better than what we were when we were there and what they are now. If you check out there AK section these days there is no comparison. I commend you guys for starting your own dedicated forum on the MUTT, I for one have felt welcomed and am hoping to contribute in the future.

Come on by to theakforum if you're into guns, We invite all discussions on all weapons platforms. I go by the same screen name there.

Hey Seabee,

I know this old post turns Ricks stomach a might, but here it goes again...
Rainman wrote:Alright, it's been a little too quiet around here and when my mind is idle, bad things can happen. I was looking through the apparel section of the G838.org store, when I stumbled foolishly across the "intimate apparel" page. I see boxer shorts and thongs with G838.org printed on them. Cool I thought, till I realized these are not female thongs, they're for men! Long weekend, long story, but here goes the sick thought of the week... A 2009 calendar of M151's posed with their owners. Now personally I'd prefer to do my modeling fully clothed and have my jeep topless, but who's gonna buy that calendar, so here's the plan. 12 of you guys need to volunteer to pose next to your jeeps in G838.org underwear! Now personally I don't want one of these calendars anywhere near my house, but TX might buy a few dozen to sell at her other hobby's conventions. The proceeds would go to Moose to help pay for the necessities for this site. Okay, not a great idea but it's that or the little used "Paypal donation" box that is provided for us G838.org users to help pay for this here clubhouse. Some of you may have missed it because Moose put it up and never mentioned that it was not a Paypal donation to the Obama/Biden campaign. So how about it guys, either offer a paypal donation, or plan on shaking your little moneymaker for fun and profit and help out the site! For most of you scrambling to find the Paypal donation area, it's on the "PORTAL" page on the left side, half way down the page.

Rainman 8)
Well the calender went over like a lead balloon, but the donation box is still a great idea and is still there waiting for you guys. Time for me to chip in again to help Jim keep us going. Anybody else willing to step up and put your money in the basket? Rainman is passing the plate for "The 8"!

Thanks Top and Seabee, and all who coughed up a little for the club.

Seabee, hopefully your not so visual as to actually want the previously suggested calendar  Just the threat of that calendar should make some open their wallets and give a little. Moose won't rat you out if you only click the $5 box Think I'd had a bit too much George Dickle (bourbon) the night I wrote that post, but it served it's purpose then as it did now. :)

Rainman, did you actually call George Dickle a bourbon? It isn't, you know. As one of only two Tennessee whiskeys produced in the USA legally, the other being Jack Daniels, it deserves better. This said, save some for me, I can't get any here in France. Oddly Jack is in our local supermarket here and has a following.

Many thanks to all of you who've contributed to the site, its greatly appreciated. Contrary to public belief, it doesn't go to my beer and cigar fund, (although that is a good cause) but to the service provider hosting the site lol. We will be here for quite a while to come, and hopefully grow stronger and better as we go!

Thanks again,
Jim
