Re: Photos found in my old foot locker
What happened from 66 to 74? Or was that the "marriage"? Hey Ralph, 141's were great for HALO but that turbine right next to your head was a little rough!

Re: Photos found in my old foot locker
I remember shooting at those targets with a prototype Barrett .50 at 1500 yards! They sort of looked like a postage stamp! They wanted to see if anyone could hit the target at that range with the new gun, I put four out of five on the target with two in the black. Took two weeks for my shoulder to heal! I swear to this day that some of my sight problem is due to the kick from that gun. I have never shot a Barrett since but I understand the kick is significantly less.

Re: Photos found in my old foot locker
Well, I realy can't talk about 66 to 74 let me just say ,look at my RA number on the W-2 in this post and know that I was before "BOND" just "wild in the streets" fresh out of the Army and 22yrs old, "WOW" is all that comes to mind, I do remember those years but they are cloudy : The marriage started in 70. I have (had) some photos of water jumps off the C-130 ramp over Antigua in 1993, I will try to find them.

Re: Photos found in my old foot locker
So your saying that the picture at the bottom of your post is what you looked like in 1968?
I have to know one thing....did you enjoy the fuzzy slippers and the PJ with the feet in them when you became a zoomy...

There is one nut on a M151 that is very difficult to remove.....
Re: Photos found in my old foot locker
PJ's with feet were just the thing to have when you went across the tile floor in the bathroom. At least the rest of the suite was wall to wall carpet....

Dan,I have to give you credit man. Not many people would have shown that last pic! Brings back a lot of memories although I never did a water jump. Ah if I only still had knees.............and shoulders, back, feet, sight, etc.

Re: Photos found in my old foot locker
Rick, That photo was posted on every bulletin board on Base with a "guess who" so my Embarrassment over it has long passed. I have never jumped but, watching them go out over that water gave me the feeling, man I could do that.

Re: Photos found in my old foot locker
rick- remember those open bathrooms at Dix? Nothing like trying to have a quiet sh*t with 4 people on each side of you and 5 in front of you on the the other side.
We used to carry a steel pot in our hueys, not to wear, but to sit {sh*t?} on in the field between missions. Back at our base iat Bien Hoa in the BOQ it was a bit different- did i ever mention my private air conditioned room, complete with VN hootch maid, and fridge? oh yeah... and the paneled blow torched ply wood on the walls, plus a queen sized bed, and a huge Akai reel to reel system? Showers and bathrooms with individual stalls just outside, too. Maybe I didn't mention it before, so i won't mention it now.
But we did have to pay for our own meals, that is unless you were, as I was, the mess hall OIC among other additional duties.

Re: Photos found in my old foot locker
Hey, I found 2 photos from my trip to Thule Air Base in Greenland that survived being in storage, this was in 1994, the Air Base had been giving to the Danish Goverment and was now run by Danish civilians. This was the first week of summer, (24 hrs, of daylight) we arrived three days befor the 1st. supply ship.
this is our 1st pass over the Base.
this is 3 weeks later as we took off on our way home.
and this is my Certificate of passage across the Arctic Circle.

I will have to show that picture to my mother in law. She told me she worked in the PX over there for a while.
