Mystery 6x6

Anyone have any idea where this was taken? I'd also like to contact the person or persons who built it.

That's a little different than the murry ones. That looks like they took a 151A2 and stuck an 151a2 rear on the end of it.

Looks like it might be from Sam's surplus on I-20 in Stanton, Texas. He does some amasing stuff. If interested PM me becuase I don't know how this site handles advertisment.

You know Joe I think you might be right. Sams was doing a lot of stuff like that.

Unless he has a T17 Staghound, can't be his. I'm thinking Littlefield, some or some guy in Mn. Those were the only two that I knew of when this picture was taken. i know of one other one in Az.

Could also be Tom at Rapco parts. He has done a few 6x6's and other crazy mods, even crazier than mine!

Vitorrio in italy has done some crazy stuff too. Check out his 8x8 amphibious M151.

Vittorio just emailed me and showed me some more pictures of his 8x8, i'll post them if anybody is interested.

He also said that it was for sale:
Vittorio wrote:We are working since 1970 on M151, what the US guys did or are doing now is what we did early 80's .
Our 8x8 m151 amphibious is wonderful , three diff lock , pneumatic one and two additional reduction gears .
Here one picture. If you like it you can buy it.. It's covered by international license.
It's for sale anyway.
Hasn't told me the price yet.

So he is trying to say we are 25 years behind him and his copyrights and patents and international license. Big F***ing deal! It is that kind of uppity attitude and his outrageous prices that keep me and a lot of others away from him. Don't think for a minute that I missed the ad he put on here and the 503 wanting to buy everyone's stock of parts. He wants to corner the market. Do the words "Eccentric A**hole mean anything"?

Rant over!!!!

Wow Rick!

Tell us how you really feel! :)

I didn't post that to stir up problems. I just wanted to let people know about the 8x8 for sale.

I know he's expensive but he has things and parts no one else has.

It cost me an arm and both legs to buy two locking diffs from him.

I understand your angst.

I remember a while ago when he was pushing those POS modified carburetors someone asked about the modification. He got all indignant and said he had full rights to the modification and would sue anyone who even tried to duplicate it. Just from looking at the pictures I could see there would be no improvement in airflow and more likely it would narrow the power band. Another member got hold of just the venturi section and told me basically what I had thought. POS! Yes he does have some good stuff but unless you are a millionaire then you are not going to be interested. I know what you spend on the diff's, You told us. Personally I think you are crazy for doing it but that is me. I don't know your financial situation and do not want to know. Keep in mind that most of us are not rich, in my case far, far from it. Sorry if I insulted you but yes, I do tend to say it the way I see it. BTW, I know someone who knows Vittorio personally and he will be the first person to tell you that he is a snake.

I'm by no means a millionare, i'm just a staff sergeant in the Air Force. The only reason i could afford the diffs is because i was willed some money.

I put most of it toward responsible stuff like bills and kids college fund. We had a little left over so i took half for myself and the wife to half and we used it as luxury money.

I'm all out of that money so i won't be buying anything from him anytime soon.

Rick, you in no way insulted me. You're an old dawg that calls things as you see them. I can never be insulted by the truth.

I'm glad you said what you did, because i didn't know of his shady dealings.

I'll be going to Aviano Air Base in italy sometime later this year. I was planning on stopping and seeing him, and now i know to be on the look out for snakeyness.

I didn't even know we had a base in Italy. With the amount of money you have given him I am sure he would be glad to see you. While you are there ask to see some certified test data on those carbs. I would wait until the end of your visit because I think he will cool off real quick once you ask that question.

Yup, it's is located at the base of the Dolomites at the northern end of the Po Valley.

It's georgious! It's considered one of those dream bases that everyone tries to get stationed at.

I would take that to mean that Elmendorf is not on the "I want to go there" list.
