Helped organize and attended a joint Army/Navy PBR reunion in Hampton VA last week. As both Dennis Ambruso and I planned on getting our boats together, I floated the notion of inviting some of our Navy friends to attend the Sea Tigers reunion. The Sea Tigers were very receptive to the idea and welcomed their Navy brethren to their reunion. Along with the organizers of the 458th, Dennis and I have been working on this event for 10 months. This event was historic, in that a pair of PBRs have not been operated in tandem since about 1996 when the USN ended PBR operations at SBU 11 at Mare Island in Vallejo CA. As we'd been trying for several years to get both boats together, the Hampton location seemed like the logical place to make it happen.
This link will take you to some youtube vids of both boats running together and other reunion vids. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPRTRq ... Po_NQpHrbA

Re: 458th Sea Tigers (Army PBR) 2015 reunion, Hampton VA
The weather ignored the weather forecast. We got the snot knocked out of us crossing the Hampton Roads Harbor on Monday Sept 21 on our way to Hampton. The forecast all week was for rain, but it never really materialized, so the outdoor activities were great. We opted to cross the harbor at 6 AM Saturday Sept 26, for our return trip to try to hit a 2 hour window of light rain and increasing winds. The crossing was rough, but not as wicked as it was on Monday. We did manage to make it the the Dismal Swamp Canal Deep Creek Lock before the rain really hit and the incoming tides and winds closed one of the waterways we just passed through. Once in the canal, for our trip back to Elizabeth City NC, the rain really didn't seem to matter. Nothing like a little wind and rain to help out the boredom of a 9 hour boat trip.
