Re: Gamma Goat

I know it's not M151 stuff, but I really like this thread so far, especially the developmental background. I drove everything in a Mech Infantry battalion between 1973-1978, from M151 to M561 to M35, M114 to M113 to M577 to M106/125, and finally M578 VTR. But I will state without reservation that th...

Re: Collector vehicle insurance

Condon-Skelly covers my A2 (garage kept) for around $90.00 annually. California registration requires electronic proof of coverage that is tied to the renewal process; no insurance, or insurance dropped/cancelled, and registration gets suspended until coverage is reinstated. Sigh......

Re: Painting masks for camo pattern

The G838 site references (G838 Manuals, see above) has the camouflage Technical Bulletins listed and hyperlinked for download.

I recommend the TB 43-0147, December 1975, for the MERDC guidance.

Re: $500 Certified Waterproof Rebuilt Engine + Extras

Well Rick, even in New Jersey, you're still much closer to Indiana than I am (watching the latest and greatest Air Force machinery fly from Edwards AFB); I would invest in it except for the crating and shipping costs. Even then, it's a local pick-up only I believe, so that option is out......

Re: M-151 Video's on Youtube

If you're referring to Mike Watson, I find his videos interesting to watch, if they do drag a little with the personalization he adds to the information. I've noticed on a few of the M151-related clips that his information is a bit incorrect, but he seems to work around the error successfully. I don...

Re: Harbor Freight Jack Stand Recall

Grabbed all four of mine and drove to the local HF, where they exchanged for replacement stands, no issues at all. Rick, sorry to hear about your motor home occurrance and the disappointing time with HF.

Re: brakes

Rather than a dedicated tool, I found that a medium Phillips head driver, pushed straight in, can turn to unlock the spring from the retainer. Same thing for installing.

Re: 1974 M151A2 Project

SITREP: My two boxes of 18 ga love arrived a little while ago from Guy Loomis, and I already had arrangements with my cousin to have him and his son perform the plastic surgery to the A2. The pick-up date closed in along with the stay-at-home orders, and we both agreed that the truck has waited for ...

Re: WTB Side Mirror Bracket

Seems to me that those would not be part of a bracket assembly, more likely individual parts that would have to be sourced. Of course, that would be for NOS; there's probably some source that can provide the whole thing on a take-off basis.

Re: Any Opinions Good/Bad on this Tire?

Yes, that's the square shoulder version I ended up with. Thought I had ordered the rounded-shoulder, but hey..... Also ordered from Summit, got a pretty good deal overall. We're "locked down" in California, but auto repair shops are exempt, which includes all of the tire shops around here. Double-ch...
