Re: M151A2 FAV at Dover Air Force Base Air Show & Open House

Joe..... my understanding of the FAV development is there are two main types of these M151A2-based vehicles. The first one is the USMC version and the second type is the one you had at Dover AFB...which I believe is the M151A2-MOD which is the Combat Assault vehicle.... Army/Air Force and was used f...

Re: Government Contract Number

Getting ready to complete my new data plates for my 1967 Cemsco M416 trailer. The Government Contract Number on my old plate cannot be read. Does anyone have the Government Contract Number for this trailer? Thanks in advance, Yes indeed. The Cemsco Wilmington contract was DA-20-113-AMC-07448-(T). I...

Re: Sluggish when starting

CaptB..... it's always a good idea to hold down the clutch pedal with your left foot when you start the vehicle. Doing it that way means that the gears in the power train don't have to turn over in cold, thick oil. The early M151 had a bracket attached to the clutch pedal which actually engaged the ...

Re: Production Facility Locations?

While we are on the Subject. Ford designed the M-151. Didn't they hold the copyright laws for 10 years or more ?. Why did they have to share with others so soon ? I know Colt bought the Armalite rights to produce the M-16 and they had a 40 year copyright license. Acu.... yes, Ford was originally co...

Re: Production Facility Locations?

Ford's first two contracts for the M151 were undertaken at Ford's chassis and transmission operation at Livonia. As you probably know, Ford lost the 3rd M151 contract to Willys Motors and Willys morphed into Kaiser Jeep Corporation at the time of the 4th M151 contract. Ford won the fifth, sixth and ...

Re: non emissions fuel tank breather questions

Tank is about 3/4 full and I removed the gas cap and got a hissing sound-pressure built up???? The gas cap is new old stock last year and the vent is in the opened position on the cap. CT.... the cap sounds like it is faulty. The vented cap with the vent "OPEN" should vent out the vapor. If it isn'...
