Re: Coil interchangeability?

That Prestolite coil looks like one that has the external resistor that sits underneath the coil. Do you have the resistor? If you need to know what it looks like just look at the pics of the coil that TJ just sold. His was one of those old units. If you do not have the resistor for the coil then no...

Re: coils

Here is what I came up with, I don't have a coil in my hands right this minute to measure but it sure looks the same.

Re: Dropping cylinders?

Take wire off of the negative terminal of the coil and turn on the ignition switch, check for power at negative coil terminal. If yes then coil is good, if no coil is bad. Turn off switch. Hook wires back up and get an analog volt meter, has to be analog with the needle on it. Red wire on coil negat...

I would guess the original coils had drawings, you would have to source the archives of those companies. First you would need to find the companies that made them and there were probably several. I am sure AC Delco had a hand in it. The problem is not making the coil but making the coil in the form ...

Re: engine

That is the sender but the end has been broken off of it.

After enlarging the pic I see a nut on there and I am wondering if someone put a civilian sender in there? There is no threaded piece coming out past the nut so it still looks broken to me.

Re: coils

And one particular dealer who is selling these "new" coils as "original specification" coils is probably not very happy with that information!!!

Re: Dropping cylinders?

Be aware that the oil in those coils is highly toxic! You do not under any circumstances want to get that stuff on you.

Re: large purchase of parts

Ken, I have not seen anything in the way of manuals at all other than the stuff pertaining to the modifications. And Howard, You are right on the money about modern medicine! I died on the operating table in 2012 when I had a serious Staph infection in my spine and then for a couple weeks after that...

Re: large purchase of parts

To all of you reserving parts be sure to keep your sent e-mail so you have the time and date because this will be first come fist served on most of it in a case where there is only one item and more buyers. I need to set up some sort of system to log all of this but today is not the day since I am d...
