SOLD Certified Waterproof Rebuilt Engine + Extras

Unread post by Nick_ » June 16th, 2020, 4:16 pm

SOLD SOLD SOLD
Price: $500

Selling the drivetrain out of The Submarine Jeep. This is waterproof as shown in the video here: https://youtu.be/TKSapGD51hs

Engine was rebuilt by the military. Has excellent compression numbers across all 4, somewhere around 125. As I was submerging the engine, and traveling across the country, I wanted to ensure everything was in great shape. I replaced nearly every gasket, line, thermostat, etc. Engine has 3 coats of Omni black paint over MP170 primer. Spent the time to tediously install the notorious round exhaust manifold. Valves adjusted.

Carb was rebuilt by Rick, but has a flat spot that still needs worked out as heard in the video. I seemed to have one carb that would idle great but not rev, and another that would rev but not idle.

Clutch setup was all replaced including a sealed pilot bearing. I used the heavy duty style clutch. This has maybe 10 miles on it.

I'm keeping the custom FAA aircraft waterproof spark plug wires with adapters to civilian plugs. If you want them it's $150 extra.

Extras:
-Factory 12V starter. One of a handful known to exist.
-24V starter assembled
-24V starter in pieces
-60 amp military alternator that I had rebuilt with new bearings, seals etc. It only puts out a few amps though
-Two transmissions. One has a rebuildable case with rusty internals. Other has clean internals but an unuseable case.
-Mechanical engine fan
-Radiator shroud
-Two fuel pumps
-Spare carb
-Spare engine gasket set
-Spare distributor
-Couple postwar jerry cans

I'm guessing there is no interest because of the "water truck" application? The price for all involved seems very reasonable to me.

Well, sadly, there is the little matter of the WHERE of it...not the what.

The Mutt engine was designed to be 100% waterproof, I would think proving it's ability would make it more valuable.

Nonetheless price drop to $500. Come get it.

Yes, I'm aware of the design. My comment was based on the fact that there were no comments or interest on the thread and I was wondering if it was because of how it was used. Most guys on here don't use their trucks like that and might view it as being "beat". As I stated, price seems reasonable.

I can tell you that I worked with Nick as he was putting this thing together and he went over that engine from end to end to make sure it was in perfect shape. That plus the accessories makes it a good deal. If it weren't so far away I would be interested.

Well Rick, even in New Jersey, you're still much closer to Indiana than I am (watching the latest and greatest Air Force machinery fly from Edwards AFB); I would invest in it except for the crating and shipping costs. Even then, it's a local pick-up only I believe, so that option is out......
