1964 Kaiser for sale SOLD

Unread post by lablover » March 23rd, 2016, 2:52 pm

After 20 plus years it is time to sell my M151. It has a partial cut in the passenger floorboard. It was painted and stenciled in 1995. New tires were added in 2011. The only rust is in the battery box. It still has the original oval floor drains. I did not drive it enough last year to keep the master cylinder up so it needs a new one. Included in the selling price is a complete M151a2 powerpack and a NOS differential still in the unopened case. Sorry i have not figured out how to post a picture. PM me and I will send a picture email or text. I am not interested in selling the powerpack or differential separately. I live in Kannapolis NC and the price is $7000.00.From 5 feet away it looks likes new. Thanks Gary.

You said a partial cut on the passenger side floorboard, I am looking at a cut across the gas tank drain hole and both frame rails on the drivers side? I am betting it goes across the other side. It is a very clean weld but it is a cut. With angle reinforcements on the rails.

That is why I took the picture to show the cut. I was talking about the 4 foot cut in the rear of the jeep as not being cut completely across the jeep.

It looks like it may have been cut when the program first started, someone got away with just cutting through all the support rails and some short cuts in the body panels. 8) My half cut had 1 main rail that was 'not" cut all the way across the top and about 1" down the side. :)

Entirely possible but when buying a 151 if I see a cut under there going across it is a cut mutt. Sad but true.

I got to know the man who sold this m151 in the 70"s He sold around 50 he said. He said to start with he was allowed to place them in a jig and cut and reweld them on site at Ft Bragg. Later in the program of course they were cut in half and rewelded back at his shop. I had the most fun getting a few parts back in the day from his lot. He had about 10 halves he never put together. You would think if he sold 50 or so they would be more common around these parts.

I think the placing in a jig and rewelding on site was a stretch! The inspectors would a lot of the times let clean cuts go through and "miss" the occasional whole body at the bottom of the pile but they sure as hell were not going to put their butts on the line to allow something like that. The demill rules were quite clear about what was to happen and that would be kind of obvious.

He told me this 20 years after the fact and I didn't buy the jeep from him. Why would he lie Rick?

He probably didn't lie, I am sure he welded them with a jig, just not on the base. After 20 years who is around to dispute his story? We all embellish things at times don't we?

Thanks fellows for all the help. After realizing the master cylinder was still.good I drove the M151 for 10 miles. I have never been emotional about a vehicle before but this jeep is just family. I marked the thread sold. I got to keep her. Thanks Gary

   This happens a lot! You are not the first. Don't get to confident in that master cylinder unless it was nothing more than low on fluid. If it was full and just started working then it will pay to replace it. You do not want it to fail (and it will) when you are out on the road. Remember, it is a single stage brake system and if it fails you have nothing. The e-brake will most likely lock the wheels and that could put you sideways and we all know what happens when that happens in a mutt.
