Cylinder head

Unread post by m38inmaine » October 22nd, 2022, 7:20 pm

I am looking for a good used or new cylinder head, I have 3 of them but the exhaust manifold area is rough and even with a leak kit may not seal. i don't mind having to recondition the head but the exhaust ports must be good.

Thanks
Mark

I wish I knew that before Gilbert! I have two or three used heads. Shipping would cost more than the head.

If you are willing to ship it I will pay, I can't imagine from NJ to ME it would cost more than $50 to ship fedex ground, I can send a call tag for it as well.

Ok, I will check out the ones I have to see what shape they are in. I know they have at least on broken manifold bolt in each but off the vehicle that is not really a big deal. These are also early light duty heads, not the later A2 heavy duty heads.
I always have this one

I don't mind having to drill tap the manifold bolts, I have done several already, thank you for looking, standing by.

Would be so great to know how that version with (half) headers would perform. However I’m afraid we will never know given we all keep them original

Don't bet on it. I only wish I had gotten the one with the single outlet header that bolted up to the original exhaust. the flanges on this header bolt right to the rear tail pipe from the mutt and I have a few of those so I may make a two into one front pipe to mate with the stock muffler. Now, if I can find a nice old side draft Mikuni.............

yes, this Ron Rietfors header was a little nicer design. As far as I remember he had to machine the head to fit the headers, how is that done on your version?

This is Ron's head. I bought out his entire inventory about a year and a half ago. Along with the plans and rights to the lockers and disc brake setups.
I need to go out there tomorrow to dig out some other heads for someone else so I will get some close up pics of it. I think I can honestly say that is a one of one head there. I know he did make a few others but he did tell me that he knows a couple ended up in junkyards when the vehicles were crashed. The guys that used these were real hard core four wheelers. Why they did not save the parts I have no idea, I know that head was well over a thousand dollars in 1990! What would that be now?

Sorry, Been real busy, I will dig them out tomorrow and get some pics. You are looking for clean exhaust manifold saddles right? I saw three heads on the shelf the other day but got sidetracked before I got to them.
