Re: Barn Find
That VW seems to be in good shape, did it spend it's life up north?
Re: Barn Find
I have no idea, it is fairly rusty underneath. The previous owner already replaced the floor pans which is one of the reasons I bought it. The heater channels need some work and I am debating on removing the body and just replacing them in their entirety and be done with it. I was looking over the engine yesterday and I have decided to yank it out since it leaks from every gasket on the thing so easier to fix on the bench. Plus I can then better assess the body and rusty rear suspension. Not really worried about the suspension since I will be stripping my 71 Super of all its parts and sending it to the scrapyard. With the exception of the front suspension and immediate front body all of the rest of the parts on the car are the same as the 70 beetle.

Re: Barn Find
Just scored this on Marketplace today for $100, no compression, going back with an 88cc big bore kit.

Re: Barn Find
Just think, that Toranado behind it had 10.5 times the cc's in one cylinder than that engine with a big bore kit.

Re: Barn Find
I love that car, I want to give it some new paint, it's about the same color as my Scout in the background.

Re: Barn Find
Got the little red Honda running this morning, no more big bore kit, someone had the intake valve too tight and the spark arrestor was about stopped up, running like a new one. Want to know how to make a few bucks profit in 30 minutes? Buy a Honda that doesn't run, you can't kill them.

Re: Barn Find
TJ
I hope to get on it one day, I've owned it for 35 years, a girlfriend of mine in high school drove it to school every day, her dad bought it new in the mid 70's. They ran it low of oil in the early 80's, motor locked up and they parked it, I bought it for a little of nothing and rebuilt the motor. It was my daily driver in the mid 80's, it has the 345 V8 with all the options, I had a bunch of people wanting to buy it, they bring good money these days but I just can't bring myself to let go of it, that's my 2nd or 3rd bad habit

Re: Barn Find
Nope! the original side x side, it will be smothered with my leftover 24087, I have 2 of them, both have the 4 wheel steer option, this is the best of the 2, probably sell the other.
