Unknown military item

Unread post by 1SGCAV77 » May 19th, 2020, 1:37 pm

I got this small generator included when doing a radio deal for my Jeep. I found a picture on Pinterest with a vehicle built by Army Air Force “members” during WWII. Their power for the drop tank vehicle appears to be same type of engine on the little generator. This generator has been run (not by me yet) but still has cosmolean in a few places.

I’m just throwing out there to look at. Have taken to couple of events. All I have gotten so far is “cool little motor. What is it?”
I am open to any and all information on this generator.

Thanks
LLee

I had one of them and it finally made it to the scrap pile. It was seized and rusted and in rough shape. I asked all around to make sure nobody wanted or needed anything from it before it went. I try to save anything and everything but there some things that are just too far gone.

From a quick google search it appears to be a Briggs & Stratton NP type engine mated with the Atlas. I saw one Instagram picture of the same with the following text...

from the 1940s and was manufactured by Atlas Aircraft Products, and Briggs and Stratton. It has the Briggs motor which runs the 7.5 VDC generator. It was used on the ground to jump start support vehicles and some planes.
