The farmers didn't pay me good, but they fed me very good(breaks too). Some of the ways of doing the work would be taboo today.

Oh boy, we had yet another string of BAAAAD storms last night. How bad? As bad as Val Kilmer looks right now. THAT's how bad....and I'm at the top of a hill.

Still, I always get a chuckle at the alarms and warnings that arrive on our the 'smart' phones nowadays. I reckon if folks need to be told to stay indoors when the weather is exceptionally bad; if they need to be told to not drive through low water crossings, we're doing it wrong! Heck, we can't even name the water crossings correctly ....

(If only someone had called them high water crossings, eh?)

NATURAL SELECTION WORKS!

Maybe we need more 'uphill both ways' to get people's minds right.

Cheers,
TJ

I wasn't stumped. I didn't think it was sporting for an Ohio native to answer. Back during my youth, the schools had a curriculum that included Ohio History. Today, the schools are waaay different (let's leave it at that)

Pretty cool... I think.

What's it for? Administering high colonics?

The Henry Ford Museum is fabulous. I didn't take photos (herding the grandkids) but it IS fabulous.

The Kid wigged out when I pointed out the wreckage of Salt Walther's Indy car....and then informed him I was there and I actually watched that wreck happen.

History is all around us...every moment of every day.

Cheers,
TJ

You would never have to worry about stuck valves in the halftrack again once you finally get it together and running and then promptly let it sit for another ten years.

The track ran like a champ (albeit a bit lethargic) when I ran it regularly. No reason why it shouldn't be just as good now. The NEW plan is to run fuel additives that will help clean up those valves. The sticky bit is down on the valve stems and they are CRUDDY.

Otherwise -

YES...the valve springs are tired. BUT...it's a can of worms that I'm not yet ready to open. When I round up some valve seats and the other sundry bits necessary to make a complete job of it, a valve job will be on the list of things to do.

Oh BOY! Finally home again and did we roam all over the place! We really put some miles on that rental car. Starting each day with a torture test of the rental car's suspension on Michigan's back roads which are unpaved washboard, worthy of any test track.

Our B&B was right on the lake and it was to my personal standard, a happy bargain. It was lakefront property, with unlimited use of kayaks and all amenities with very nice, very easy going hosts who lived on-site. Because we were there to do the touristy thing, the only thing we used was the view and the hosts who were always ready for some pleasantly distracting conversation if we happened to bump into them. The weather? Absolutely FABULOUS!

I got my family to the Henry Ford Museum (and saved Greenfield Village for next time). It is just as nice and clean and even MORE orderly than my last visit many, many years ago. With grandkids in tow, I don't think I snapped ONE picture. I took a lot of pleasure watching my kids' eyes bug out. The eldest grandchild, only 3 and-a-half, was quite a trooper and he hung in there for the whole thing without a single complaint. He's gonna be a gearhead....I can feel it.

If you want to see what that place has to offer, you're just going to have to visit it yourself. But, in the spirit of celebrating vehicles that are green, I present five pics taken at a American Legion in Sandusky, Ohio. That's an M5 and its in the AFV Registry....and before anyone else says it....yes, the MG shrouds ARE ridiculously wrong.
