My first thought Rick, was to tell you to maybe start up a group that had shows and could draw in MV's from all around New Jersey. That close to Ft. Dix you might have more owners right there, than we have in any individual county here in Ohio. My next brainchild was for you to have the first few rally's at your place. Let the neighbors, police and the mayor get a load of an ocean of OD pouring through town, just like when the hippies flocked to Woodstock. :D They'd have to call out the New Jersey National Guard, but what the heck, it's just more OD vehicles on site.

In reality, here in Ohio there are a few organizations that make all these local events possible. I'm a member of The Ohio MotorPool that is active with many events, They and the Marlboro Volunteers made arrangements and feed the entire TMC convoy last year and provided 3 hots and a cot for everybody for3 days. That's a good deed nearly a hundred of us still need to repay. There are also the Buckeye Military Vehicle Collectors too. There are events here because of the clubs, and there is local support for them. That seems to make them worth going to. Our old state saying was "Ohio, the heart of it all" I'm pretty sure that just meant the center of THE RUST BELT !

Pretty official word is that Hallsvile, Ohio event is canceled this year due to poor health of the Russ at the museum. It is currently being replaced with the Shiloh event, with property being provided by Seaman's Planktown Hardware in association with the Ohio MotorPool Inc. Move to Ohio Rick, not any less snow, but you sure could go to more shows. :D

Rainman, could you convince someone to take over the hallsville show? It seems most of the ohio shows are really up north...will be at mid-ohio but the others not sure...and to my knowledge nothing in wv... that forest ride sounds fun what's up with it? have you done it befor? HTN

Geez Ray! Have you been holding out on us. Look what's on the calendar. Man If my wife would let me play that much, I would think that she had another guy on the side. http://ohiomotorpool.oldmv.com/newsletters/10april.pdf

As this event weekend approaches, I wanted this post to be updated and taken BTT.
The original list above has been updated to include Hallsville, and links to each are now
available next to the event. Ohio and Western PA MV buffs should come out and show
support the Marlboro Volunteers. They were great support for TMC 09 MVPA convoy,
providing food and shelter for all convoy personell during the longest layover of the
entire convoy. Some will remember pictures of the major engine swap that was performed
during the convoy, those were the Marlboro Volunteers, and their crane used for heavy
lifting. They also provided facilities for Diamond Jim to perform a wheel cylinder transplant.
Hope to see some of you there, :D

I just returend from THIS event:
June 18th, 19th, & 20th 2010 Alliance, Ohio Military show & flea market http://www.marlborovolunteersinc.com/vehicleshow.html

For a first time at that location effort it was really nice. HOT today...had to hide from that blazing sun! Quite a few M151's were there. Mine is still up on the rack in the shop waiting for me to put a clutch in it...

Looking forward to next year's show. O.MG.M.

Top, you talk about free well hows this? Last time I took my first cousin to the Hallsville show Russ found out he was with General Pattons 3 Army ( a sherman driver which was hit with a 88 but was a dud) Russ not only gave us both free admit but furnished him with a golf cart to get around the show...Russ and his wife are great folks...I will be at Hallsville for sure....htn

This Friday at WPAFB. There will be a Tattoo. Basically this is an air show, band concert, some military awards ceremonies, 38-Special (rock group) more air show, beer, food, and fireworks....and it's all free.

I've been going to this for a few years now. It is very well organized, and a blast.

Here's another one in Piqua. http://web.g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=165367

CAN'T MAKE IT TO TOPEKA ?The 2010 WACO Military Experience is almost here! And it is going to be bigger and better than last year!!! July, 9, 10 & 11
A couple of big changes this year will be a tactical demonstration area so we can have a couple of small "battles". Also the Sherman tank demos will be on the near side of the runway unlike last year when it was almost too far away. There will additional armor presence this year with the addition of a M5A1 Stuart tank and a V100 Commando armored car as well as last year's favorites, the M4A3E8 Sherman from the Allen County Historical Museum in Lima. Ohio and Tom Price's LVT 4, "Tom's Joy" that was featured in the movie FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS. We will have several small convoys into Troy throughout the weekend.
There will be reenactors and living historians from several time periods from the French and Indian war through Vietnam . There will be firing demos of several weapon types such as the Revolutionary war era 6 pounder cannon, the Sherman tank's 76mm gun and various small arms.
There will be more militaria vendors and militaria displays this year as well as stage presentations on various subjects throughout the weekend.
Also new this year will be a vehicle pass in review.

There will be a larger aircraft presence this year also and it looks like we are going to have at least 2 planes giving rides and one is an SNJ.

ADMISSION PRICE DOES INCLUDE ENTRY INTO THE MUSEUM, UNLIKE LAST YEAR.

Well I'm packed and ready to head out to the Shiloh, Ohio event in the morning. They'll be a few G838 members attending for sure, oh and George Dickel is riding with me. :D Radios will be up and operating @ 51.0 just in case somebody needs directions. We have a few military flairs set up for aerial fireworks if the wind cooperates Friday night. I'm looking forward to the 4 wheelin and trail rides, some are hoping for rain, not me. This is the 2nd year at this location, but it's not far from the old Mansfield gathering. Hope you can make it HTN. We all wanna see your new ride! :D I'll try to recruit every M151 owner that shows, since we can't solicit for them on that other site anymore.

The Shilo event was nice. New show...it will grow. Very nice surroundings and good people. The trail ridding was a fun thing. Watching them big assed MV's sling mud is a real treat. Hope to have my own Jeep there next year for trail ridding.
