WOW, what a rally this was! Got to see more G838'ers than at any other event, and more M151's than at some MVPA Nationals. Didn't get pictures of them all in a single shot, but am thinking there were 15 all together. That might just make the Mid-Ohio the M151 event to attend in the US. We even had some M151 owners that didn't bring their jeeps, but it was sure something to see. I did get a shot of 8 in a row in a single picture, but so much for the typing, here's the pictures...
The ever popular TX and Tony Banks
Bob Croce and his orange and white canopy's
HTN and his mystery M151 that was sold almost before it arrived
Another of HTN and the man I er he sold it too
Myself and OhioMachineGunMan
plus HTN, hows that for some white legs?
OMGM and 67mutt
Here's a whole heap of jeeps
This one wouldn't join in any reindeer games. He was an outcast across the aisle. Owned by ?
Here's a newer member John aka firedupsdriver and his early
You guessed it, TX and Rainman
Possibly the newest M151 on sight. NOS body and recently assembled by Lance. Not sure of his last name.
There were a few deuces, a few M37's, a few CUCV's, a few GP's, but the M151's outnumbered any other vehicles there and once again, the G838 was the best represented club at this event. Sure there were some SS guys and some 503 guys, but we beat em all hands down!

It has gotten bigger and better every one of it's 3 years as predicted. Many more vendors, many more hobbyists, still seemed to me like too few general admissions, but that's not much different than other shows I guess, but still lots of room to grow. The civilian jeep aspect of the show has dropped to only 3 or 4 vehicles that I saw. The 3rd annual pizza rally only had 2 M151's in it this year with Bob Croce and I the only G838 members in attendance. A couple of SS guys were new to the pizza convoy though. I was showing the pictures and bragging my top speed of 71.3 MPH and one of the SS guys did an impression of Dustin Hoffman saying "71.3 miles an hour yep 71.3 miles an hour, 71.3", while he was rocking back and forth in his chair, it was hilarious! Not the largest turn out for the pizza convoy, but we inadvertently conflicted with a club's fish dinner and lost a few folks, and I didn't pass out the invitations like I did last year to all the MV's either. I'll promise more effort on my part for next year, and maybe try to establish it as an official part of the Mid-Ohio event schedule. No pizza pictures, but still a good time for those attending. A number of M151's that attended the show I never got pictures of. TX's and LtSimp's are members for sure I missed, and possibly 2 more slipped past me, maybe someone else got them and can fill my gaps. TX promised pictures but forgot her camera. I was hopin HTN would toss me a bone, but he sure did a beautiful job on a flat top air cleaner for me, thanks HTN! Cstaup made good on his offerings from his parts pile and saved me a bundle, many thanks Chris. Thanks to the hospitality of Bob Croce for the tent he provided and a complete PRC-77 I picked up from him, and a few special order items from Mr. Tony Banks that really were needed by me, and to keep firedupsdriver's early on the road. With the close eye of a friend I was able to pick up a pair of oval floor drains for my early for $15, and found a few parts to get me on my way to assembling a complete RC-292 antenna. Convoyed with firedupsdriver nearly home with the windshield up when the rains hit. I had an Ohio MotorPool member call my cell phone to warn us of the bad weather ahead. We got off the highway to wait out the storm and I put my top on, fupsd didn't have one with him. We waited till the rain slowed and made a break for home. Great show, great folks, great vehicles, and even better friends, I had a great time Many thanks to the Buckeye Military Vehicle Collectors Club and members Tom Woboldt and Brian Wolfe for their efforts making this super event happen in Central Ohio.
