Hallsville Report

Unread post by Rainman » August 26th, 2008, 12:55 pm

Well, I was waiting for TX to jump in here and tell the tale of Hallsville, but nothing yet. I had no camera, so HTN and TX need to show us what was there. Seemed to be mostly the same vendors as last year. Ohiomutt was unable to make the show. He reported in that he'd been involved in a vehicle collision on Saturday AM on the way to the show. Had hopes of making it on Sunday, with no luck it seems. Many members of our club were there, HTN, Donovan, TX and Curtis, tbanks, and myself. Weebee Dave, Tom Woboldt, and Ron Alred, all M151 owners were also there but not sure if they are members here though. 2 mini evening convoys were made to Chillicothe for nourishment. Htn came bearing gifts, tail lights for me and ROPS netting for TX. Lots of healthy conversation about M151's in a crate kept us entertained. Tbanks brought me an R-442 with ALL the accessories that I was unable to get from him at the Mid-Ohio due to my lack of funds. It was a slow show on Friday, Saturday was fairly well attended, and Sunday half the vendors were already gone by 0900 hrs. The other half had packed up and said their goodbyes by 1400 hrs. Hallsville is considered a "must attend" for many of the Ohio vendors out of respect for Russ and Gladys Jones, the host and hostess. Their hard work and effort always shows with the vehicle displays, the Saturday parade, and the great museum.

There ya go guys, fill in the blanks for me, with 4 part harmony and 8" x 10" color glossies...

Hey HTN

All I can think of is the size may be too large for the "ad photo" section. If you have a program you can reduce the size or the resolution, that may be the answer. If not, try sending them to me 1 at a time and I'll modify them for you and get them up for all to see. I reduce to a smaller size and save them at 30% to allow the "add photo" button to work, but my camera is set to take 2 meg pictures. I don't use the G503 photobucket for my own reasons, is that what your trying? Even PM'd TX and have not heard back, maybe too busy with the kids and school starting.

I had every intention of posting those pics to my photobucket account. Apparently I got side tracked with getting packed for my trip and all, and forgot to do that. So I had a full memory card with me at my mother's with no way to dump it, so I set it aside and borrowed my mother's memory card to use on my 'Vacation'. Only now I think I left my original memory card at my mother's house. So now I've gotta wait till she sends it to me. Sorry for the delay, but as they say "finless brown trout happens".

As soon as the memory card gets here, I'll post everything for you all to see.

At Ease! Here are the pictures HTN sent me from the Hallsville show. I can offer little narration other than the picture of myself, my friend Dave Shoemaker with the 30th OVI Civil War reenactor group, an unknown onlooker and my recent M416 purchase that kept me from driving the A2 down to the Hallsville show.

Great looking trailer! Where did that come from? Will it get a new paint job or stay that way?

Hey ltsimp,
Found this trailer cheap on craigslist in Enon, Ohio. Had a few offers to sell it at Hallsville, but I'd only owned it a few hours when that happened, so no deal. Other than the powder coat fenders and chains, it's all pretty nice! Very straight sides and rails. Floor is a little wavy, but aren't all of em? Rust pitting on the floor too and a few small holes I poked through so it well require some fiberglass cloth, but off to the blaster it will go for a total restoration, prime, undercoat and paint with 383 green to match my A2. This will be my second M-416 restoration this year, so I'm counting on it being easier this time around. The last one was a piece of cake anyway compared to an M151 restoration, and it came out very nice. This trailer will be updated to composite taillights, and setup for a riser for the canvas cover to keep the rain from setting on it. I hope to have some friends pick up paint for me at the Gilbert show, so the work can get started soon. I've already started the taking it apart for the work to begin. :) I still need to put together the pictures of the first one, as I never showed pictures it completed, just in process. It's turned out great!
