These vehicles are great and the crews are spot on in this drill.

Great multi national training exercise and CAPEX, including the public, all in one.

Here's how the US does it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nL27223xp_U We build bridges. This video shows the MKII BEBs (Bridge Erection Boats. They are being replaced with the new M30 BEB https://dod.defense.gov/News/Special-Re ... oid=600833 (one of which was seen participating in Rick's video).

Nowhere near as efficient nor as fast at deployment or breakdown, or as maneuverable as the German system. That German system is self powered all the way so it needs no support craft. The video did not show getting those pontoons back on the trucks, I am guessing that is not a fast operation. The German ones pilot themselves to shore, drive out and fold themselves up and go. And did you notice at the very end of the video where they were fueling up? The unit was flat on the ground, has to be complete independent air suspension and probably hydraulic drives.

Each system has its advantages. I can see the german sys being more prone to NMC.
