Out of the hobby
Sold the A2 and the M416. Also sold the M101 in a package deal today.
It's been nice but needed to downsize for the possible future move.
You be good.

Re: Out of the hobby
Sorry to see you go, You can always hang around the forum. I was just kicked out of the G741 forum for no known reason. Shades of the old G503 stuff that brought on this forum. That pretty much soured me on the M37 project. I may be selling that one and I have been cleaning out a lot of stuff from the back yard. I just can't work on stuff anymore.

Re: Out of the hobby
hang around anyway, salt6. i had to sell mine several years ago, but i still come by and see what's happening.
Re: Out of the hobby
Salt6 I sold my last M151A2 years ago but I still hang around.......
I will most likely be dumping the last of my MVs in the near future and like you Salt, I will be effectively out of the hobby... Unfortunate as it is, times change and I can't afford to fund all of my "hobbies" so I have to pick & choose what it is I want to do.
Rick you got kicked out of the G741 site? What the heck, Man! 'was a member there a very long time ago but haven't been on in years. I guess you could still use steel soldiers' G741 forum for info?
Matt

Re: Out of the hobby
Or I could just sell the M37. I get the feeling that the M37 crowd is becoming like the WWII Jeep crowd and I do NOT fit into that clique!!!!!! I am going to try to keep one of the military vehicles and at this point the sensible choice is the M37 since there is a much higher aftermarket support for it plus there is a very high crossover with civilian parts. If the 24 volt ignition stuff becomes much more of an issue it is very easy to change over to 12 volt stuff they have used since the 50's and is still supported to this day. Driveline is all pretty much fully supported, axles are common Dana 70's. U-joints are all standard off the shelf stuff. This is all becoming an issue with the 151. Spark plug! we won't even go there. I did find a place in Pa. That sells the latest version of the same engine the 151 uses and a lot of the stuff should cross but I never had a chance to get back to the guy. You still have the u-joint issues, where you going to get the driveshaft joints when they dry up?

Re: Out of the hobby
As we all get older these questions become more urgent.
How much stuff do you need?
I have managed to accumulate more spares for the 151s than I will ever need
How many replacements does one need?
Down sizing may be a wise move but using parts shortage as a justification is not necessarily valid.
I am running my original set of spark plugs since the engine was installed in 2013.
Now what do I do with the Other 16?
The same is true of carbs fuel pumps axle shafts
Ujoints etc.
Love the A2 and plan to keep it till the Nursing Home .
May actually ask to be driven there in it.
Just another persoective.

Re: Out of the hobby
True, But that is the perspective of someone who has all the spares they need. Most do not. I have a fair amount but if I run out then what? Prices go up as supply dwindles. Face it Fil, How much would you sell a set of plugs for? I am thinking probably above 15.00 a pop. How much did you sell them for five years ago? Plug wires are another good example, I paid 10.00 apiece NOS for the set I am running now and that was probably 15 years ago. They are what? 140.00 a set now! I am not saying the hobby will die for lack of parts but it is going to be priced out of the range of my pay grade that is for sure.

Re: Out of the hobby
Price is not the justification for getting out.
It’s a hobby and the people you meet are what is important.
Keep what you absolutely need and get rid of the rest.
I am sure you have enough residue to support your parts requirements for the duration.

Oh, I am sure you would find someone. I got your message the other day about the carbs and yes I can do them but I need advanced notice so I can get the kits. My power has been out more than on, that is why I have not gotten back to you.Fil Bonica wrote: ↑July 23rd, 2019, 3:10 pmPS,
