Pre photobucket crash pictures

Unread post by rickf » October 19th, 2019, 11:27 am

I want to let all of you know that I have a thumb drive that was sent to me by a member with all of the pictures on it from before photosucksit crashed. I have not done anything with it nor have I even checked to see if the pictures are still opening but I have it. I want to thank that member but in my old age I forget who you are so if you see this please remind me. Meanwhile I will start going through the drive and make sure that the pictures are not corrupted by Photobuckets latest scheme which blurred out all of the photos that were still visible.

Your Welcome! It should be a copy of the board at the time that I made it. I think it was made a couple years back after one of the times we were without for a few days so not completely up to date. Search not functional as well since it's just copies of pages.... same fear as muttguru of losing the vast knowledge stored here. There is also the wayback machine if it's not on the drive.

Well Thank you Sir! If I can ever get hold pf Robert, The IT guy who helped, or actually did the update himself, then I will have him look it over to see if this is feasible to do. I plugged it in and went to the first thing which was the g838 file and saw the entire breakdown of the site. Not sure how you got all that info, we may need to talk about that.  But after searching through there and realizing you also had a ton of other stuff on that drive I went back to the beginning and found the index and bingo, there was the site in 2016. And the picture do still open but I notice that when they are open my computer is busy doing something so I closed them in a hurry since I am online at the time and I don't know if Photobucket can access that info or not. I will shut down the cable and see if it still does it.

The way I look at this; I downloaded my photos to photobucket, to be posted on this site, they confiscate my pics for ransom .They did this to get easy money. They should have gave me back my pics, then said we will charge you now for this service.I sure could say more, but you all know what I am talking about.Aw, this might be a worthless post as it is common knowledge so this can deleted if judged to do so.

They keep sending me notices to re-up with them. Not in a million years.

Ok, we all feel the same and this has all been said before. Not only on here but by millions of others. Just Google Photobucket and see what comes up, Nothing good that is for sure. I am not making any promises and this is not happening tomorrow that is for dang sure. I looked and the pics are there but they will need to be reformatted to another site because I am sure they are tagged by photobucket and as soon as I repost one it will get blurred.

Well, fellas this may be water that has gone over the dam for many of us. I take my photos and put them on my laptop and depending upon what they are topically, they are grouped into their own file. Only then do I send them over to postimg. So, no matter what happens between me and postimg, or photo bucket, I will always have those photos. Then it is only a matter of searching them out by name on my computer if I need them again.

Cheers,
TJ

Anti seize is your friend. Especially if you plan on keeping your rig for the long haul and might be the person who has to disasemble any particular component again in the future.

I'm with George on this one. I have been using the same host for years and haven't had any issues.

I'm with George & Cobra on this.... Have used surfacezero for years now and have several hundred HMV related pics stored there. The site is FREE, run by fellow HMV enthusiasts and the storage space has no limit. Never had a problem providing pics to the multiple sites that I visit. Thanks G503.com

The only problem I see with that is that it is part of a competing forum. One that really did not want to see the g838 succeed. I am a bit leary of using their service to supply our pictures. Things are amicable between the sites as we are now, I don't want to change that if possible. If it works for you then great but I would not depend on it myself.

Maybe I am missing something but whenever I look up Surface Zero it always comes back to G503.

The opening page of surfacezero.com IS the G503 Photo Album. The word surfacezero appears in the URL ONLY.

I have no qualms using the site since I've been a customer of Ron Fitzpatrick Jeep Parts for many years now. Seems over the years that I've purchased more parts for my M38 than my M151A2.

Just want to throw this out there for those looking for an alternative... you can always share an image from you google photos account. In google chrome, click on it for the enlarged page, right click on it, and copy link. Past link here and place image tags as usual. Example....
