Re: THANK A VETERAN
Looking at the photos of m151's on line in Vietnam is starting to be back long lost or repressed memories. All vets need to take care during this weekend and on Monday. Be so very proud of your service.

Re: THANK A VETERAN
I was just sitting here thinking, yea I know, don't happen much anymore. When I went to Vietnam my dad had been back from WWII for 26 years. So one generation of kids were born after that big war. I have been home from Vietnam for 47 years and I was one of the later ones, two full generations! I was at a doctors visit today and the doctor asked how long I was in the Army, I told her I was drafted so I was in for 2 years and I reupped but after a year I was injured and got out on a medical so 3 years. She had no idea what the draft was or that you could be drafted for only two years.
Salute to all veterans and especially those from the forgotten wars of Korea and Vietnam!

Re: THANK A VETERAN
auburn, washington will host it's annual veterans day parade this saturday. it has almost 200 entries, several of which are for viet nam vets. i attended for the first time last year, as i didn't know about it before then. so if any of you are near there, and also don't know about it, you might want to look into it. look for me, i'll be the old guy in the nam vet baseball cap.
Re: THANK A VETERAN
Ron, I hate to tell you this but ALL of us Nam vets are OLD guys!

Re: THANK A VETERAN
Happy Veterans Day. Although that seems like a strange thing to say. Especially considering the origins of the day on 11-11-18 and the war and events that precipitated it. Having never served in the armed forces, much less seen combat, I've never been sure how to approach Veterans Day. Seems to me it should be an occasion for somber reflections rather than a day for sales at department stores and automobile dealerships.
Just my thoughts.
Just my thoughts.

Re: THANK A VETERAN
Raymond, You are absolutely right but just like every other holiday the true meaning has been forgotten and the holiday has been commercialized and monetized. Maybe not in that exact order.

Re: THANK A VETERAN
I got a taste of it in Afghanistan (those little buggers tried to kill me several times and never even made the effort to find out what a nice guy I am!) but I do not claim to be a veteran. I feel sorry for those who do, but who are not.
I called or texted all the important vets in my life today. Some have seen the elephant. Some, still waiting for their turn. Some lucky enough to never have had to become immersed in it. But as I told all my guys in Afghanistan, "The important thing is, you manned up and showed up for the party. What may follow... inshalla."
Veterans, for your service, you have my respect, my admiration and my heartfelt appreciation.
Cheers,
TJ
