Anyone used these guys for parts?

Unread post by Challenger2 » April 23rd, 2020, 6:54 am

Hi,
And this is probably more aimed at our UK and European members. Has anyone used Ava Parts in the Czech Republic for M151 parts?
They seem to have a well-stocked website but I cannot raise them by email to query their shipping policy which shows (for me in the United Kingdom) a flat rate of about £50 to ship an item whether the order is for a full engine gasket set or just a single carb needle valve, which seems odd. :?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Didn't even know they existed. However, if the really are asking £5,800 for that yellow wreck of an A2, it doesn't seem like a good omen.

No clue if legit but if you put the address into Google Maps or Earth and look at street view you will find an electronics shop next to a florist. Directly behind or to the south of them is a courtyard which has similar cobble stone pattern and black and yellow diagonals where the pictures of the yellow wreck appear to be taken. Unfortunately google has not updated the pictures since 2011.

EDIT - or the smaller courtyard immediately behind the pizza joint to the east is a possible match as well for same reasons. Plus this one appears to have two vehicles in it in the 2020 overhead view (3 from the site photos)... possibly green and yellow.

or just wishful thinking :D

ok, checked their website. They have a deep water fording kit exhaust pipe for 38€. Sounded good so I tried to buy it. But shipping is 60€ to Germany, so I don't think so...

The store exists and ships the pieces, they also have a facebook page.

I have bought in this store 2 times, my opinion is ... regular, on both occasions they have been purchases of many pieces, due to the restoration I am doing, the shipping costs vary little, buy a lot or a little. (at least in my case with shipping to Spain)
As a general rule they have good prices for almost all the pieces, but on the other hand, the customer service is not good, sometimes it takes days to answer emails or even answer questions you need to know before making the purchase.
In the last purchase for example, they sent me some pieces of gift that saved me money but on the other hand they sent me a used piece of the exhaust pipe (7331260 and it should be new) They also sent me the turn signal with a broken piece, I think that does not affect its use but it was not whole ... I sent them an email to complain about the pieces and they have not responded.

On the one hand good, but on the other hand bad. Will I buy there again? Maybe yes, or maybe not...
a greeting

AVA parts is in fact only one real supplier of the MUTT' parts in CZ. Two guys a big fans of military cars, mainly MUTTs. Both of them have regular occupation and part's distribution is the second job for them. I visited their stock. Some parts are NOS, other pars used, some of them repaired.
The prices are reasoneble in comparison with DE, NL, IT, US suppliers. Of course the shipping cost are always trouble.
They are able to repair whole engine, differential, etc...
My experience with AVA parts is very good. But it is local and personal wiew.

update:

Tried Ava and ordered the fording exhaust they have. Shipping did cost more than the part itself. They did send a NOS part, not repro, so I can't complain, shipping was also reasonable quick.

The other source would have been Trucksparttrading in the Netherlands, they also have NOS parts for the fording kit but they would not ship the pipe at all.

isn't there supposed to be a turnout at the end of the pipe to prevent rain from filling the pipe? Or is that an add on?

the turnout is a separate part as is the clamp and mesh shield and the fender mount and hardware kit....kit is key word because the 2 I bought years ago all parts to mount in one box...if you do install this and use a soft top be prepared to keep cleaning black soot off your top......htn

I have the full fording kit installed, this is just a replacement for the rusty part on the jeep.

I just reached the 10.000km (6.000 miles) mark with my 151 today :)

Haha, unfortunately I’m a civilian pilot. What I fly could definitely sling a Jeep however. It’s an A-Star as they are called in the US.
