Battery powered impact wrench
Father's Day is coming and I thought I might ask the family for one of those new-fangled battery powered impact wrenches. I've never had one but I thought they might be worthwhile, especially on the road or for some future military vehicle recovery deep in the hinterlands. I've never owned one but the idea of having to wrestle lug nuts and the like is starting to become less and less attractive, especially with my troublesome back.
If anyone has some experience with a particular brand, or model (good, or bad) ...
or an opinion based on your experience, like - I wish I would have bought the (insert whatever here, such as an extra battery or particular option)...
I'd like to hear about it.
Cheers,
TJ

I can tell you that Dewalt is the top of the heap but it is sort of like Snap-On, you are paying a Premium for the name. You can get their earthquake brand at Harbor Freight for 269.00 for the 1/2" and 279.00 for the 3/4". I am probably going to get the 3/8" model for 169.00. Keep in mind these prices are for complete kits with the battery and charger included. Dewalt wants 6 bills for everything!!!!! You know what? I am all about buying American but when the price difference is that high.................. that is not a quality difference, that is a greed difference!

Our group (here in the UK) have standardised on Milwaukee products. Nothing the 3/4 impact gun won't undo and it's been used extensively on a Sherman and now Stuart restoration. Took bolts out of a range-wreck turret which a 1" pneumatic wheel gun wouldn't touch which impressed us all.

Thank you for the input, grasshopper. How long have you had this particular unit?
