Where can I buy the alternator bracket angle?
Dear All,
I have a M151A2 1971 in the restoration process and I need to find the "bracket angle" for the aternator. The actual is not the original and for that reason the third belt has not tension.
I always buy in Army Jeep Parts or Ebay but now I can't reach this part.
I'm really appreciate your help with some information.
Thanks for your help!!
Best Regards,
Mauricio

Re: Where can I buy the alternator bracket angle?
I can see the bracket is not the right one but if the belts are uneven that would be caused by either the bottom mount or most likely mismatched belts. Was the belt set a matched set? The top bracket would not have anything to do with the alignment of the alternator to the belts. I see you are in Chile so I can't give much help as far as where to get the correct bracket. AJP should be able to help you, they are still in business.

Re: Where can I buy the alternator bracket angle?
Hi,
I bought belt set in AJP arrevied really well at home. I'm live in Chile and I have a mail box in USA with a good service and I hope in the future when the virus situation change can visit AJP and other suppliers.
Thanks for your advice I will check if the lower brackets have something that changes the angle of the alternator and I hope fine the original backet angle.
Best Regards,
Mauricio

If you want to find out if it is one of the belts that is mismatched then mark the belts so you know what order they are in and take them off and change the order. If the same belt that was loose before is now loose in a different position then you know it is the belt that is the problem.

Just so you know. The Rubber Manuf Assoc back in the 90's issued stricter specifications on rubber belts. So all belts are supposed to be much closer in size than they used to.
Belts used to be made on a big drum and matched belts were the ones that were side beside as they were cut off the drum. Now they are 'supposed' to all be closer in size. That's why you don't see matched belts for sale in the normal autoparts places.

Have you EVER been able to get two belts to match that were not a side by side matched set? I haven't and the shorter they are the more critical that matching becomes.SturmTyger380 wrote: ↑August 25th, 2020, 2:23 pmJust so you know.
