Very nice product. Quality for sure. Am looking forward to your display holder. This is just to nice to lean up against the goat. I know you have something unique in mind.

Well, my initial idea was that I would use one of those blow-mold commercial quality sandwich boards (which I already have) to hold it for display.

-BUT-

this sign is of such good quality I think I want some additional protection for it in between display times which is precisely when things go seriously wrong. The box it came in is, in fact, very suitable for that storage purpose but only in the short term. In the long term, regular cardboard just cannot stand up to the wear and tear and never will it stand up to that occasional unlucky sign-killing moment.

So, I may be on putting this into a movie poster frame for display. I may be creating a custom frame that can fold open to approximate a sandwich board design; one that can close up upon itself to protect the face of the sign. So many good ways to do it. So little time.

This illustrates the problem I have with having really nice stuff. Two years ago I was given a really stellar Pendleton wool blanket as a Christmas present. With three hairy dogs and 7.5 cats, I just can't bring myself to expose it to that kind of abuse and it has remained forever tucked away since after I received it.

Cheers,
TJ

I think it would look good in a wooden frame wrapped in od canvas.

I think this is going to work nicely. After a tidy-up, I'll make a protective cover for it (for storage purposes) and life will be good...

These are available online and come in a variety of terrible non-military colors -

https://plasticade.com/sign-products/si ... s#products

Use their search engine to find a supplier near you.

Naturally, I got mine out of a dumpster...cause that's how I roll.

These can be filled with sand to give them extra weight.

Now that I've done ALL the extra legwork for you...go out and get y'self a sign for your MV!

TJ

What does an A-frame signboard have? TWO sides!

Yep...I went and ordered a SECOND sign for displaying the Gama Goat.

Nothing really brings a stationary vehicle to life quite like photographs. So, I commissioned a second sign that was a collection of photos of the M561 doing it's work. The irregularities you see are intentional. Check it out.

So, I've been letting the issue of what is the best way to protect the A-frame (which will be containing my new signs) during transport.

I was thinking a quality bag of some sort would be best and I knew if I just put it on the back burner and let it roll around in my brain for a while the solution would finally present itself. Two words.....

Body Bag.

Ta-DAH! Thanks to the power of the internet, I have one on the way. Fingers crossed that this will be a nice fit.

Body bag is definitely something you buy NOS, not T.O.

The quality is very good. You'll never find a less expensive one.

So you turn your 8 foot bed into a 5 foot bed? You will kick yourself the first time you need plywood or long boards.

Wait! I thought that was what the gooseneck was for.... Not to mention that I have a LOT of other trailers.

But seriously, we're brewing up a plan to take the Goat up to Moab or similar destination once my buddy retires from the PD. So the Greenlee goes in the bed. Gear and baggage goes in the box. People go in the crew cab. The goat goes on the gooseneck and all of us go somewhere scenic.

Baddah bing! Baddah boom!

I'm trying to come up with a method that not only secures the box in the bed but that is also easy to be rid of to restore the bed to full use. I have a hide-a-ball in that bed for the G-neck but unfortunately, I do not have hideaway securement points for towing safety chains. So THOSE are always in the way.

But life is a series of compromises, ain't it?.

I always had this weird habit of buying ammo whenever there was a good price with free shipping when I had no pressing need for it. As the alarmists were advising to buy gold or silver, I was buying and reloading ammo. Wanna guess who's investment became richer? I can still get the gold and silver; ammo is another story.
