Finally Joined the Club!
Hello everyone. I thought I'd take a moment to make my first post here with my new to me M151A2. This is my third military vehicle (I also have an M1025 GMV and a Polaris MV7) and I've got to say that this sure is a lot of fun!
So for the details, it's an uncut AM General M151A2 that at one point had the floorpans replaced in it. The vehicle runs great and with the exception of the horn and the windshield wipers, everything is functional. I managed to "fix" what I think was a ground issue with the horn by taking things apart at the steering wheel and making sure that good contact was made. I've made it as far as checking that there is power going to the windshield wiper motor and haven't gotten beyond that yet, so that will be this weekends project.
I purchased it from a member here on G838 who has been a long time friend and I feel took exceptionally good care of me to make sure it was a worthwhile buy for me. Considering that I really don't have anything to complain about, I'm very grateful for the experience with him in adding this to my stable.
Now for the pics!

Nice. I see pine trees, oak trees and rain, you aren't in NJ are you? The wiper issue could also be a bad ground. run a temporary ground from the wiper motor to the battery ground terminal and see if they work. If they do then just either run an aux. ground wire from the motor to one of the bolts on the steering column on the dash or if you don't want to do that then be sure all the connections are good between the motor and the mount, the mount and the windshield and then clean the pins from the windshield to the body at the hinges.

Thanks Rick! I'm in North Georgia, so no Jersey for me. I visit family in the lower Hudson Valley of NY fairly regularly though and am thinking about dragging it up when I visit for Thanksgiving - there's lots of good riding in the area.rickf wrote: ↑September 20th, 2021, 5:36 pmNice. I appreciate the tips on the windshield wiper motor. I'll give it a go.

We have several members down in that general area, I am sure they will chime in sooner or later.

Re: Finally Joined the Club!
Yup, your problem is almost surely a ground issue and really not all that uncommon. If you clean your windshield hinge pins and ensure the holes they go in are also clean, dielectric grease will do wonders to assist in the grounding (and also preserve the exposed metals). If you prefer the convenience and security that comes with having all your metal surfaces painted, that's certainly understandable and the ground strap is the answer.
That's a good looking rig!
Cheers,
TJ

I'm too old to be a skater. My idea of hurting myself when I was younger was doing it with a dirt bike or 4 wheeler
That construction project belongs to my neighbor's kid and my son.

Thank You! So funny enough, it's titled as a 1971 model - but has an AM General Data Plate and tub. If I've read correctly, AM General didn't actually start production of A2's until 1972. I'm not going to lose sleep over it, but it is an interesting anomaly.

Re: Finally Joined the Club!
Based on the front fenders and side drains I'd say it's AM General.

Some may consider it blasphemous, but mine will be a Marine truck before too long - I'm going for a Beirut, 1983 look. I'm concerned I might get hazed if I get caught driving around in an Army vehicle too much
