Nice truck Horst! Who owns the OH-58 Kiowa? Do you know what year the airframe was made?

Thanks,

Joe

Joe,

Good friend of mine has these 58s, not sure what year they are, think 70/71.

In addition to that airframe outside, both these OH-58 are in extremely good condition, actually that will be the last time I see them, they are sold now.
I like the military cockpit better than the Jetranger one, I also think they are a little nicer to fly, I have so far however flown mainly the OH-58C which is even better looking with the flat windows...

Horst,

Thanks for the info on the OH-58’s. My fathers first cousin was with A Troop, 3/17th Air Cav, 1st Aviation Brigade in 1970, when these were coming into country as Loaches. He was a scout observer on one. He was killed while they were working with Cobras, in a pink team. He was marking a bunker complex with a Willie Pete grenade, when enemy ground fire caused the helicopter to maneuver, causing the grenade to fall back inside. He bent over it shielding the pilot from the phosphorus. My cousin died on his 20th birthday in Vietnam.

My interest in M151’s came from my desire to keep the memories of him and men like him around for others to see.

I found the pilot from that day, he gave me a very stark first hand account of that day’s events.

Thanks again for the info, I’ve always felt a bit of a connection to him when I see one.

Joe
