Re: 25amp Generator
hi
normaly the brushes are worn out or bad bearings
the field coil can burn out or sit to ground broken wiring
the rotor can burn out and go to ground if the Amps are to high (bad battery`s or regulator adjustment
the rotor commutator can get the solder out to high load (bad battery`s or regulator adjustment or is worn out
to test a generator you can run it as a electric motor
give it ground
set power at the field no B ( 1 ) and at the rotor no A ( 2 ) at the connector plug
if it runs he is OK and the rotor is also magnetised to start up as a generator

Make sure you take the belts off before trying to run as a motor! It will not turn the engine.
