Guy, How are we going to weld Aluminum to steel ?
Is there going to be a partial Body Panel that won't require ripping off the entire side of the Jeep ?
Thanks and Cheers to you and your Company for Saving our Mutts !!

Aluminum to steel? I'm not sure what you mean. We have the lower portion of the side panel and the lower flare. These are on our website.

Acudanut, Are you talking about those aluminum forms he showed a while ago? Those are jigs that are used for production welding of the lower corners onto the fenders. Thy are not to be welded to the body. You can weld the corners without those jigs. They use them due to the amount of work that is needed to be done in short time.

Not sure I know what this means. "Those are jigs that are used for production welding of the lower corners onto the fenders. Thy are not to be welded to the body"

What does production welding mean ? I have no clue.

I would think production welding is done by machines which would mean no human hands are needed, like mass production in a factory.

The jigs both locate the part and also work as heat sinks to keep from blowing through when welding. I am pretty sure the parts are welded by human hand. I am answering all of these questions based on my own experience and the few conversations I have had with Guy in the past, It might be better if I let him answer from this point forward.

All parts are done "by hand". We do not have any robotic welders. We are a custom fab shop and do not have a product line. The "production welding" is welding a set lot size compared to one part. Lot sizes for 151 parts average around 10 parts per run. We build fixtures to ensure quality and fabricate the parts in a timely manner. This controls cost.

I'm working on it. I have to review the job costs and now that we have better fixturing, what we think the fabrication time per unit will be.
