Unread post by LTDan » October 23rd, 2013, 12:05 pm

Just curious. Does anyone know this vehicle? Looks like a beautiful restoration.

I have seen it for sale before, the mention of the plastic gas can caught my eye both times.

Sure is. I used to own it. Also provided all of the canvas for the restoration. It's legit.

My M170 is in the AMEDD Museum at Fort Sam Houston http://www.odcloth.com/1955m170.html. I acquired the M718 in unrestored condition with the intention of getting it restored to my standards, but the acquisition of a large boat changed my plans. I sold the 718 to Eddie Black, who was tragically killed in a freak accident. Rich Miller ended up with the vehicle. Craig got it from Rich and did the excellent restoration.

Ill watching that auction for sure. One thing that bugs me is that there is no mention that its cut, but it sure looks like a reweld in the pics. Its a beautiful resto to be sure, but being cut does effect the value.

I always struggled with the siren issue on these trucks. I didn't add one. Def cool looking for a parade, but would a front line ambulance really have had one in Vietnam? Doesn't seem like a siren was what you wanted driving around there. Anyone ever see a 718 with a siren when they were over there?

Good call on the the reweld TJ. I would think that with an explanation as detailed as the one given it should include that information. You KNOW that he knows it and is leaving it out hoping that it is not noticed. He does not say it was not cut so it is not false advertising but with details like that....................................... Just sayin'

thanks for the warning about possibly being a cut one, I contacted the seller Craig and asked him, no reply, asked again last night, same thing no reply. also asked prior owner and member of this site, no reply either
so you called it. He was generous with description and all but avoided the 5000 question, so I withdrew my esnipe bid
and wont place another
I guess that also explains why he didnt post it here or if not a member, ask some one else to do it.

You'd better check your PMs Top. I answered your PM @ 8:37 this morning. It's still in my Outbox waiting for you to read it.

Yes it is cut, rather uniquely!

although cut, it appears to be a VERY good job of rehabbing the tub. It looks to be an excellent restoration job. I wouldn't be afraid of it at any rate. The only question to me would be what is the right price for it....

Correction.
It did not sell. Highest bid was $13,850 but the reserve was not met.
