value of '79 M151A2

Unread post by sandyMutt79 » November 18th, 2013, 9:56 pm

Hi, Guys,

not sure I want to keep my 1979 M151A2 Mutt
with ROPS, high water intake, high water exhaust,
rifle holders, heater kit, full winter canvas AND
arctic winter cab.
Extra set of wheels and tires,
boxes of misc extra parts; distributors,
extra gas tank, extra hood, extra front bumper,
lots of other stuff.
Brakes are UP, engine turns over. NO rust holes,
but side to side cut.
This Mutt was forest camo green, is now desert sand.
What's the value of this unit with only 27,000 miles,
BUT no title?
Is there a value guide?

Value on these vehicles changes with the market. Not the stock market, the " I want one" market. The fact that it is a cut mutt and no title is going to hurt you but if it is in the condition you say it should bring a fair price. I would guess in the 5 -6000.00 range without seeing pictures.

Probably only worth around $200 bucks. I'll offer you $300 scrap metal value. "kidding"
I've sold a few military vehicles in my life and what you can get for them depends on location, condition, economy, and if the zombie appocalypse is coming.
Take fleabay with a grain of salt if you use it as a price refrence, there is a diffrence between what someone is wanting for their truck and what they sell for. I hate it when someone says "I want $$$$ because thats what they are listed for on peebay" But no one buys it at that dreamer's price. I've made road trips to check out "rust free" vehicles just to be staring at a POS with pieces of stop sign pop riveted in to cover up where the owner used a hatchet to cut out the rust. Rust free!
Without any images of the vehicle and asking for a value is shooting in the dark. Just my 2 cents.
I'm sure someone here knows the Mutt $$ market better than me or just read through the "for sale" section at the bottom of the forum for average prices of M151's.

Without seeing close ups of the beast that number is at best a shot in the dark.
Recently bought an uncut A2 titled complete but disassembled for a fraction of that.
Not trying to throw cold water on the deal but there are too many questions to be answered before anyone should pay that kind of money.

not sure how to attach photos,
the bottom of this Mutt is very good,
I removed some 30 lbs of sand and gravel
from when the previous owner played in a
gravel pit here in Crystal Lake, IL 60012.

Paint is good, weld looked clean, no cracks,
wire brushed it, put on 2 coats of primer
and then 2 coats of desert sand paint.

If you email me at milspecmaint@yahoo.com,
I will send boo coo photos.
