M151A2 Seat and Top Frame Paint Color

I'm restoring a 1979 M151A2 in MERDC Winter Verdant. I was initially going to use Summer Verdant, but have changed my mind. I think the Winter Verdant looks better. My question is what color to paint the seat frames and top frames as well as the door and side frames. Currently, the A2 is painted in Summer Verdant, but the seat and top frames and door and side frames are all painted in 24087 and somewhat rusty with surface rust. My A2 is a TOW Carrier model that had a ROPS added to it. When the Army converted to MERDC Camo did they paint the seat and top frames in MERDC paint or just leave them in 24087?

once Ken recovered, I am sure he can advise you exactly on what was used. I assume you will have still some time to decide on the correct color.

In my case, the A2 was originally painted 24087 from the factory. Underbody and inside the engine bay everything is still 24087. Outside of the body everything is painted in forest green, including dash, seats and so on. Body then was painted with the lines defining the different camo color areas but that was never done because it never left the storage going into service. But that is no help as it is former USMC.

Thanks Horst. Mine is a 1979 and the engine bay and underbody are painted in 24087 as well. Mine was U.S. Army.

Go here and get this manual, It well give you all the specs for painting the vehicle by the book. We had the manuals on here for download but the service was being abused and I had to stop it due to excessive usage on the site.

I've decided to paint the seat, top and door frames with 24087. This is the paint currently on them and I already have the paint from previous MV projects.

Hmmm, I think that will look a little odd. Even if it is as it. But you could very easily change that if you feel the same.

But maybe more important is how you’ll paint the dash and the rest inside the body.
