The sheet metal cover is about 1" in from the frame rails:

From the center of the main cross member to the center line of the bend on the frame rail is around 37.5" as shown below:

The outside dimension of the frame rails where they tie into the main cross member is around 9.5" wide:

Thank you so much for taking the time Guy looks like I have most all the info to set the frame up . You see had I not had this specs I was going to weld the two frame rails at the back at 10" but its 9.5 to be exact . :D

The front bumper is still on my jeep - I measured from the front of the cross member (same as you did) to the second bumper mount hole back from the front (in the picture the one missing the bolt) and came up with 81 5/16" to the center of the hole. Does that match what you are showing?

Ok, so as soon as I posted this I realized that I can do the math from your pictures and see that the numbers are different. If you take your number of 84.5 and subtract 81.3125" the difference is 3.187". On your tape it shows around 2.187". The cross cut on mine is behind the cross member so the part that I measured has not been hacked. :?:

You might be better off if you can measure from where the rear diff mounts to an engine mount or front cross member mounting location. That way you know that your drive shaft length will be correct. Just a thought...

Yes Guy that is exactly what I was thinking about the drive shaft. That is why I chose the front bumper the diff mounts on the A1 and A2 are not the same ?

Hello All I know Its been some time since I posted last but I have been using the time to source body panels and parts from all over . I have managed to pick up most all the parts needed to finnish up this Restoration I started a year ago and only have a few odd,s and ends left to find,I am still searching for the left and rear A2 composite light buckets (good used cutouts ) are needed if anyone has a set avail from a scraped A2 this would be a great help. With the rest of the parts that will be coming from Guy , I will be getting back to my restoration whithin the next few weeks . As of now I have been taking apart 2 front end's to make 1 good one .

We still have a bit of snow on the ground to melt off before I can untarp my other A2. :roll:
