Fuel Pump issue
While driving today my mutt broke down....The electric fuel pump sounded normal when I started driving then later the engine stopped...The fuel pump sounded like it was going twice as fast and when I took off the air cleaner hose to the carb a ton of fuel dumped out...When I run the pump it pushes a lot of fuel through the carb...
What is causing this? Is there some debris maybe stuck in the pump or a seal bad? Can the pump be fixed or is it prob shot?
I should add that the pump is a Gov't pump for the A1 mutt. Installed NOS 10yrs ago....

Re: Fuel Pump issue
Carburetor float issue. Nothing wrong with the pump at all. You either got something stuck in the inlet needle or the float tower may have broken, ( I have seen a lot of that lately). Float could have broken. But it is not a pump issue. The pump running fast is due to no resistance at the carb, just flowing right through.

Re: Fuel Pump issue
How's the NEW Zenith carb rebuild kits for sale out there?
Re: Fuel Pump issue
If you are talking about the ones that Norfar sell then they are what I use in all my rebuilds. They come straight from Zenith and have the newer rubber parts in them.

Re: Fuel Pump issue
Be very thorough in your inspection of the carb. From your description of your problem whatever happened happened fast and that is not the sign of a carb needing a rebuild. It is a sign of a carb that had a part break.
