transfer case selector shaft seal question

Unread post by Txjeeper81 » December 3rd, 2019, 9:23 am

Does anyone know of a civilian replacement for the transfer case selector shaft seal? That small little pain the the butt seal that goes around the front wheel drive selector shaft.

When I had my power pack out two years ago I changed all the seals and now that little seal has started to leak. it leaves a good half dollar size oil spot on the floor. If there is not a civilian counterpart for that seal then I will just run as is till it gets too bad or I have to pull the pack. I know how much of a pain it is to change that seal I am just curious if there is a modern seal out there.

Thanks

Have not had to do this myself … yet. Found this - https://g838.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=96 ... EAL#p81564

If reading correctly, I see where it is not recommended using a civy replacement due to civy possibly having only one seal lip while originals have two. Can someone confirm?

LOL go figure someone would have a link to a previous post on G838. I swear I searched before posting this morning and did not find that post. Oh well thank you I will look into those seals and see if they will work.

If all else fails, read the instructions...
Place + in front of a word which must be found and - in front of a word which must not be found. Put a list of words separated by | into brackets if only one of the words must be found. Use * as a wildcard for partial matches.
I think I did +transfer +case +seal and caught it on second page.
