Fuel line length A2

Unread post by Eddie Holland » May 23rd, 2020, 8:19 pm

Is there a manual that tells how long the main A2 5/16" fuel line is? My 19 year old noticed it started leaking at the fitting coming from the tank. He tried to cut a piece off and reflare the end. Now he has the line too short. Someone had already replaced it appears and wasnt routed very well.
Thanks Eddie

My best advise would be to take a piece of string and tape it to the tank on the other side from the line and draw mark on the string where the line meets the tank fitting. Then run the the line aolng the gas line following all of the bends and when you get to the point where it goes through the floor mark the line again. This will give you the total length inside then do the same thing outside from the fuel pump back to the point where it comes through the floor, add a couple inches for the floor pass through and you will have the total length of the line. I have never replaced a line in an A2 but I doubt it is one piece.

I can check parts book in morning to verify what is "proper" but on my A2 the suction line is one piece from fuel tank fitting to within approx 10" of fuel pump then a rubber hose. Eastwood has some pretty good tubing benders & flaring tools. Good luck

thanks rick yeah I thought about that. I was sure I remember seeing in a manual the exact length. but knowing which one is a task in itself.

I think I just found it in the 20p but it says to make the line from 63" long Copper. Is copper ok?
