Water Pump Rebuild

Unread post by hondo100 » August 14th, 2020, 9:10 am

Has anyone rebuilt their water pump using the rebuild kit that is available? I'd prefer to rebuild versus buy NOS if possible, but don't wont to go that route if others haven't had success. Recommendations?

Thanks

They are a 60's Ford 170 6 cylinder pump but you have to pay attention to the outlet and make sure you get a straight outlet. Some have an angle built in to the outlet and that will make it very hard to get the lower hose to fit. I have found that when getting a rebuilt pump you will sometimes actually get a military pump without the heater hose fitting. On those you do not need to grind the relief for the timing cover bolt.
