Pressure Brake Light Switch Alternative?

Unread post by Surveyor » January 25th, 2021, 12:06 pm

Have gone through two of them in the past two or three years. On the fence about ordering another one. One started leaking not long after install and another started from scratch as a drip and got progressively worse. Would like not to go to the mechanical switch if I can help it but I also don't need it to be fording approved either. Anyone uses a newer equivalent less likely to leak?

I bought a pressure switch from the local parts supplier several years back and have not had any problems with it. That probably does not help much, but maybe it shows there is a problem with the master cylinder where the switch attaches? Mine was a NOS.

Would something like this work? Is it leaking in the switch or around threads?

Just asking!! Did you use "new" washers on the Banjo bolt when you had the Y fitting off?

Mr. R, used new on all. Triple checked both times and the leak comes from the switch itself. This time fluid comes out of the connection area where the two prongs are located.

AS I said, just checking. :) If your not trying to stay correct for the year you could do a little Mod and install an a2 stop light switch.

3/27 - Installed a Painless low pressure switch from Amazon. Connection works fine but not "water proof" but never planning on fording anyway! Timer started ...

My first choice was a Motorcraft one from Summit but it keeps going on backorder.

Looks pretty unsafe Mark. Time to tackle the brakes, remember, it is a single circuit system with no redundancy.
