Hi guys
I m going to complete the last work on my m151 : fixing steering box leaks. I have a leak on upper flange that is too close to the chassis so it is impossible to fix without removing something.
I have A1 so I know the steering box is a single piece together with steering column.
I' ve read manual 20 and 34 and it seems to be I need to remove the steering wheel than loose the steering column clamp and remove the steering box bolts.
I have three questions:
1 - is there any chance to loose a bit steering column clamp to move a bit the assembly and change the upper seal without removing steering wheel?
2 - Any trick for dismantling and re-alignment?
3- I 've read 34 manual and it say you have to completly screw in the adjusting screw before removing upper flange ... why? In this way I have to re adjust the steering box, could i simply remove the flange bolts and lift up the cover?
Any suggestions would be appreciate

Re: Steering box leak
I have never rebuilt one of these boxes before so I am not going to offer any advise there. The reason for turning the adjuster in to remove the top is to use the adjuster as a press tool to push the top up. The steering box adjustment is easy so readjusting is no big deal.
The one thing I can tell you is that the steering box/column will come out in one piece if you are patient and take your time. Take the steering wheel off and the clamps, unplug the horn wire and remove the box bolts and raise the vehicle on stands and the column will come out over the suspension. Or under it? I forget now but it will come out.

Re: Steering box leak
Hi
The adjusting bolt Is hookt at the sector alle inside
You must screw the bolt complete trow the lid
Wen adjusting you wil see there is more play at the total right and left
So adjust the play. At the middle
For the middle turn the steering wheel complete left and right
Watch the revolutions the half is the middle
Set it there with no play
Use gearbox oil
