Tire question

Re: Tire question
I will stick with finding some 215/85-16.. Raymond did i also see that you said to also keep the pressure in the tire the same as the mil tires? 20 pounds in the front and 25 in the back. So you ignore the max and min that are on the tire? in favor to what the jeep defines?

Re: Tire question
Yes, and they don't wear funny doing that either. Most tire manufacturers say to follow the inflation guidelines on the sidewall unless the vehicle manufacturer says otherwise.

Re: Tire question
One last question on tires... so i think i read somewhere here that if using civi tires(no tubes), the rivets could/will leak air. Then i thought someone mentioned painting them. So if painting them, paint them with what type of paint? i bought 4 NOS wheel rims and one that has a old military tire on it. found these tires, think someone here had a link to them: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ironman-All- ... /121847205

Re: Tire question
I would just clean them up with a wire brush and hit them with a good aerosol primer, you should be able to find a little more aggressive tire for about the same money, unless you are staying on the street.

Re: Tire question
Mounted mine on the rims without tubes, did not inspect or mess with them at all. Told the installer to look at the rivits and if he thought an issue let me know (I had two new rims with me) but he sais all looked good. its been about 6 weeks and no leaks.tbh726 wrote: ↑October 5th, 2021, 9:17 pmOne last question on tires... so i think i read somewhere here that if using civi tires(no tubes), the rivets could/will leak air. Re: Tire question
I loaded my Civi Tires up per the tire and it was too much, let them down to 30 each and noticed they were riding on center tread so after reading Raymond's comments above set them to 20 & 25, the ride better and flatter now.

Re: Tire question
The pressure on the tire sidewall is the MAXIMUM pressure you can run it that tire. It is NOT the recommended tire pressure as so many people say it is. I usually do not comment when I see that stated but it has become so common anymore that someone has to say something!!! The pressure you run in any tire is the pressure recommended by the manufacturer and if you do not have that then go to the tire manufacturers web site and look up the pressure recommended based on the weight on that tire. And do NOT guess on that weight, go to a scale and actually check it. This usually pertains to trucks and older RV's that had Bias ply tires originally and the stated pressures are completely wrong for radial tires at that weight range.
