You know what's odd, if you turn the clutch rod lever counter clockwise it tightens up your clutch.
If you turn the rod counterclockwise you are lengthening the travel of the rod and this will cause the clutch to separate more from the engine flywheel when you press the pedal

It will also give you less free play and more chance of clutch slipping.
