hi

the small U joints from the transmission to the front and rear are moving a litle
i never had to put new one`s in
i use only the back outside U joints one or two a year
they are move a lot

Not sure what to tell you about the amount of acceptable play, but as for the M151 being hard on u-joints; the u-joints that are the most troublesome are the axle u joints.

It is my opinion that they are the ones most likely to fail precisely because they are hard to grease with a standard grease gun.

What you are looking for is rusty residue around the cup where the needles have dries and rusted, or play when you twist the shaft. Either of those will be signs the joint is gone. If you got grease to come out of all four cups and it was not rusty looking when it came out you should be good. Like George said, the joints on the drive shafts do not really move much so there is little wear factor there. But if they get dry they will Brinnell, where the needles wear grooves in the cups.

this is good news... none of them seem to move by hand.. doing normal driving no off roading how long do they normally last?

I can remember turning the cap on the U joint to see if it moves smooth, if rough then it is bad.Of course after giving it a shot of grease
