Another Horn Button issue

Unread post by acudanut » September 7th, 2021, 2:44 pm

My understanding is that the Horn is always hot, and your ground it by pushing on it. However, mine has a spring that is under the horn button, so i would think that this is not correct..Also, I have zero power going to it. Can I add power to it by connecting it to another source ?
Suggestions ???

Check to see if you have power at your circuit breaker, power goes from circuit breaker on #25 to horn, you could run a 24v jumper wire to the horn if you're not getting power to it. Other #25 wire goes to horn button which acts as the circuit ground, you could ohm out the wires if you think you have a problem there. I have also read that if you're missing the brass bushing under the button it won't work. Run a hot wire to one terminal on the horn and ground the other terminal and see if it works.

hi

the horn is at one side hot 24 volt from fuse wire`s 25
take the two wire`s from the horn to check it only one is hot
put the hot wire back at the horn
do the other terminal with a wire to ground horn must go off if so put the wire back on the horn
at the left side inner fender is a connector for the horn wire to the button
take it loose and hold it to ground horn must go off ( if you put a voltmeter on it it is hot 24 volts )
( this is a bit a false signal there is no amps trow the wire bud the voltage go trow the horn at the wire )
the horn button must have ground from the steering wheel
if you must have a new button take the holding spring out
below at the fender take the connector apart ( rubber back and remove plate take rubber off)
put a rope or a wire at the old button
take the old one out
clean the inside of the steer
put the new one in with the spring
if it is a A2 there is a also a little wire at the hardy disk near the steering box for ground
