A2 Clutch Rod Boot Issue
This A2 has been apart for over 5 years. It was a rotisserie queen for almost 2 years of that. While installing the clutch rod thru the firewall, I noticed that there is not a flange on the engine side of the firewall to mount/secure the boot to. There is a flange on the passenger side of the firewall.
What am I missing?

As far as I know, the only boot is on the bell housing.

There is "no" lip on the body, the boot has a double lip the sandwiches the hole.

Re: A2 Clutch Rod Boot Issue
Is the flange something that was "pressed" in or is it an integral part of the firewall?

Re: A2 Clutch Rod Boot Issue
Looks to be pressed in or tac welded, it extends above the floor/toe board inside.

Re: A2 Clutch Rod Boot Issue
Thanks for the photos and checking on the construction. Now to figure out an "elegant" jury-rig to fit the boot to. Maybe use an item 4 in the parts diagram? I know I've got one somewhere...but where?
I can guarantee it will show up the minute I order another one.

Re: A2 Clutch Rod Boot Issue
Used item 4 in the diagram. It fit snug in the firewall with a little help from my ball peen hammer and some JB weld. Boot is on and clutch linkage is all together and adjusted. Now for the throttle linkage....
