Troubleshooting is great but if you have a spare it’s awe fully quick to make a swap. Sweeping the contacts may make the switch work again but it still is an old switch
It’s up to you and what your parts bin looks like.

i am a bit late
look first if you have the front park or marker lights
if not the switch is not ok
if yes the switsch is ok
look at the wire connector 21 from the front behind the dashplate if there is power
put power on the wire to the back no 21 and see if the lights work
if not check if there is power at no E (bottom right side pin ) trailer receptacle
if yes it must be the light units or the connectors
if not look take a wire from the battery with a fuse and put power to the no E trailer receptacle
look if the lights work
if yes the wire from the front is broken
