driver's side axe footman loop number?

Unread post by Refit1701 » June 18th, 2022, 9:53 am

On my 62 Ford, I can definitely see where the rear loop goes, and where to put the replacement weld nuts.

On the front end of the axe handle, It appears that there was only one. That part of the side panel was rusted out. I see in the 1960 manual only one at each end where later manuals show two at each end.

So early trucks just had one at each end....am I right in thinking that?

The front footman loop isn't for the axe tie down, only one strap on the axe.

Is it for the door?

Yup, for the door, I used it as an axe tie down and many people do, Dave P. lined me out on that one.

Thanks for spreading the knowlege Hambone. You'd be surprised at how many "you didn't send me enough straps for the ax and shovel; I only got three" phone calls we get.

So what do those people do with their door post when they have already used the loop for the axe handle? Besides stand there and stare at it?

And wait for someone like me to ask them if they read the -10 manual?
