clutch adjustment

Unread post by Redlight » October 13th, 2022, 6:56 am

I have a base model M151. The clutch always engaged with the petal very high off the floor. It does not slip at all and is fully engaged when released. How do I adjust the clutch so it engages closer to the floor? I have the manual and have read it over a bunch of times and now have a question. What keeps the "Rod" connected? The drawing shows the spring with a hook but only a single hole on the equalizer shaft arm. Reference -20-1-1 section 4-12.
Is there a difference between the m151, m151a1, or the m151a2. Thanks

No difference between the models, only adjustment is screwing the push rod in and out. It's the rod that goes from the pivot into the clutch fork inside the bell housing. Clutch plate may be getting thin.

Since it is that far out I would suggest you only go one turn at a time and try it until it feels right. If you unscrew it all the way out of the adjuster you will use every four letter word you know and you will be looking up new ones as you try to get it threaded back in. Sometimes it can be done and other times the adjuster moves and it becomes very hard to do. You have to pull the lower cover off and basically have to work with two people.

Thank you all.
I will try to adjust after the local Halloween Parade.
I will report back results.
